Jah-Rista

Artist Bio

Recording artist and song writer Jah Rista started rapping at the early age of ten.  With inspirations from Erik B, Rakim, and Dr. Dre, Jah Rista entered a series of talent competitions to try out his material on a live audience.  By the age of sixteen, he was on a year winning streak in his home state of Alabama and across Georgia.  It was from these competitions that he gained the confidence and exposure to create his unique style of rap.  Jah Rista describes his style as, "A mixture of unnamable elements" and "aggressive".

Due to his growing popularity, Jah Rista started opening up for acts and performing at clubs in Alabama.  It was at one of these clubs in 1997 when he met Chicago's own, Soundmaster T at a show.  Soon after, Jah Rista left Alabama and moved up to Chicago to perform in Soundmaster T's new band, The Mercenaries.  Soundmaster T described Jah Rista as "the last piece of the puzzle" for his five man group.

Since then, Jah Rista has performed with artists like Ludacris, Twista, Crucial Conflict, T.I., Neyo, and Lil Wayne to name a few.  Given the nickname "Prince of Chicago" by Power 92's The Hot Boyz, Jah Rista plans to outgrow his name in the next year with hopes of becoming the "God of Rap."  He adds exceptional talent and originality to the Mixmastered Records family and is on his way to having the whole country screaming "Churrrrrrrch!"
